Hospice Huntsville calling on volunteers for annual Fall Festival fundraiser

Hospice Huntsville is inviting the community to celebrate the beauty of the autumn season by volunteering for a good cause.

The organization is once again partnering with Sandhill Nursery for its annual Fall Festival and is seeking volunteers to help make the popular community event a success.

Volunteers will staff the entrance gate at Sandhill Nursery, with shifts available seven days a week from now through Oct. 25. Each shift is approximately three and a half hours, and volunteers can choose a time that works best for their schedule.

Funds raised through the partnership will support Hospice Huntsville’s programs and services, with the organization aiming to raise enough to cover more than one month of care.

According to Hospice Huntsville officials, government funding covers approximately 50 per cent of the organization’s operating costs. The remaining 50 per cent, about $54,000 each month, must be raised through community fundraising efforts to ensure hospice services remain free to local families.

“This is more than just a volunteer opportunity,” Hospice Huntsville officials said in a statement. “It’s a chance to meet new people, enjoy a festive fall atmosphere, raise vital funds for Hospice Huntsville, and support compassionate end-of-life care, programs and services for local families.”

Officials are reminding high school students that volunteer hours at the festival will count toward their community involvement hours and are encouraging clubs, organizations, and businesses to put together a team and volunteer together.
