The 2026 Terry Fox Run was another major success in Muskoka, with participants in three communities collectively raising nearly $100,000 for cancer research.
The run took place on Sept. 20 in Huntsville, Bracebridge, and Gravenhurst.
Huntsville run organizer Sharon Stahls said the Huntsville run had the biggest turnout the event has seen since COVID, and she was thrilled by the tremendous community support.
“It was so awesome to see everybody there, the weather was fantastic, and the community really came out,” Stahls said.
Stahls said it was especially heartwarming seeing so many children and young families taking part, emphasizing the importance of keeping Fox’s legacy alive for the next generation.
“What really warmed my heart was when I saw all those young people on their bikes, all the mums and dads pushing the strollers or pulling the wagons,” she said. “It was just a really good family vibe.”
The Huntsville event also featured a memorial area filled with photos and messages honouring loved ones who have died from cancer, serving as a reminder of the deeply personal connection many participants have to the cause.
“We’re all united by hope and determination. We’re all there trying to make a difference,” Stahls said. “Hope is growing faster than cancer.”
As of Sept. 21, Huntsville has raised $56,187, Bracebridge has raised $13,494, and Gravenhurst has raised $29,420.
Stahls said there are still T-shirts for sale to support the cause, and donations are still being accepted.
