The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232 in Huntsville and the Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation have donated $10,000 to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
Natasha Nieder, philanthropy officer with the foundation, said the funds will be used to help purchase a new Central Patient Monitoring System for the ICU and emergency department.
“We had to replace the central patient monitoring system because our current system was ageing and reached the end of its life,” she said. “The total cost to replace the systems in the ICU and the emergency department was about a million dollars.”
She noted that the foundation chose to apply for funding from the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies’ Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation because both organizations have been “wonderful supporters” in the past.
“It means such a great deal to us to know the Royal Canadian Legion has a long-standing history of supporting communities and health care, and their commitment to patient care and frontline workers is just truly appreciated,” she said.
Nieder said this investment will enhance patient safety by allowing the clinical teams to monitor patients in real time, respond more quickly to changes in condition, and deliver high-quality care when it matters most.
“Investments like this help ensure our communities have the tools they need to provide the best possible care today and into the future,” she said.
