The Township of Muskoka Lakes has begun the next phase of its comprehensive zoning by-law update, with a focus on waterfront zoning provisions.
Officials say the zoning by-law determines what can be built and where. This includes boathouses, accessory buildings, sports courts, hot tubs, and shoreline development.
Township staff say they are reviewing these provisions to ensure they showcase community values, environmental priorities, and changing land use needs.
Officials are inviting residents, property owners, and community stakeholders to help shape the conversation by providing their input. This includes:
- One-on-One Phone Consultations: July 14 & 16 – Residents can speak directly with the consulting team in a scheduled 15-minute call to share feedback on waterfront zoning concerns. Calls can be booked by emailing: muskoka@planpart.ca
- Open House at the Port Carling Community Centre – A drop-in event will be held on July 26 from 12-2 p.m., where residents can view zoning materials, ask questions, and share their perspectives.
- Online Survey – For those unable to attend in person, an online survey will provide another option to contribute input. It will be open until August 8.
