Change your smoke alarm batteries in time for Daylight Saving

Daylight Saving is this weekend and the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department is reminding homeowners to change smoke alarm batteries. Fire Chief Steve Hernen says at least once a year, old batteries need to be replaced. When you change your clocks this weekend it’s a good time to put in new batteries. It’s also the law to have working smoke alarms on every storey of a home and outside all sleeping areas. Tampering with, or removing batteries from your smoke alarms is illegal and fines can range between $235 to $50,000.
