Muskokans that don’t connect to mandatory water and sewer services can now be fined

If you don’t make a connection, you’re going to face a hefty fine in Muskoka.

This comes from the district as councillors have approved a penalty of $15,000 for anyone that doesn’t connect to mandatory sewer and water services. This is only for residents that have been notified by the district that they are required to hook up to one or both of these services. The original penalty was suggested to be $50,000, but councillors agreed to soften the blow a bit.

Anyone that needs financial help paying for these connection costs can finance through the district for up to 20 years. According to district officials, over 500 residents are expected to connect to sewer and water services by 2019.
