Penetang boater faces numerous charges after speeding through Georgian Bay Channel

Speeding through a Georgian Bay channel has resulted in impaired boating charges for a Penetang man. The Southern Georgian Bay OPP marine unit was patrolling Tomahawk Channel Saturday night before 7:00pm when they spotted a personal water craft travelling well above the 10km/h limit posted for that channel.  Police stopped the vessel and determined the 30-year-old operator had been drinking.  He was then charged with operating a vessel with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood, operating a power vessel over 10km/h within 30 meters of shore, and two other non-compliance boating charges. He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and will answer his charges in a Midland court next week.
