The Salvation Army says the annual Project Porch Light Food Drive was a huge success.
The porch-to-porch event was held on Wednesday night last week. Volunteers and firefighters with the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department picked up several non-perishable food items for families in need over the holidays.
Major Darren Wiseman with the Salvation Army says this year was better than their past food drives.
He says this year’s theme was to have healthy foods and noticed a lot of people followed that trend.
Wiseman says the number of families who participated went up 30-40 per cent. He believes next year that number will continue to go up.
