Muskoka was featured in a recent article published by The New York Times Magazine.
Val Hamilton, executive director of Muskoka Tourism, said the exposure presents a “significant opportunity” to attract more U.S. visitors and encourage increased visitation through September and into the colder months.“We’re particularly excited about the potential impact on shoulder-season travel,” she said.
Hamilton said she had the opportunity to speak with writer Sarah Bahr ahead of her visit, sharing insights about the region and some of the work being done to capitalize on the increased attention.
“She then travelled throughout Muskoka independently, experiencing the destination and selecting the businesses and experiences featured in the final story,” she said.
According to Hamilton, the piece highlights a number of Muskoka businesses and experiences, including the SWS Weekly Ski Show, Don’s Bakery, the Residence Inn in Gravenhurst, Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery, local hiking trails and more.
