Huntsville celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day June 21

The Town of Huntsville is celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day with a special event focused on culture, education, and connection.

The free event, Music, Artisans, and Market will take place June 21 at River Mill Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The day will feature a vendor market, Indigenous artisans, craftspeople, educators, and live entertainment. Mayor Nancy Alcock will provide opening remarks at 12 p.m., along with a land acknowledgement and smudging ceremony.

Live performances throughout the day will feature the Lyons Sisters, Jared Big Canoe, and Canadian singer-songwriter Logan Staats.

Officials say the celebration will provide opportunities to honour and learn about the cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

The schedule may be impacted in the case of inclement weather. For weather updates or a full list of activities, visit huntsville.ca.
