Community centre in Baysville reopens, arena remains closed

The Township of Lake of Bays has announced the community centre in Baysville has officially reopened, following a temporary closure of the facility.

The community centre, arena, and public library in Baysville were fully closed on May 5, following an issue affecting part of the property. Township staff have been working to safely reopen areas of the facility in phases, with the library reopened on May 13.

Hydro service has been restored to both the library and community centre, with public access available through the Carol Street entrance.

The reopening follows a confirmation from engineers that the affected maintenance room is now safe for staff access, allowing crews to restore power and other essential services in the building.

The arena and part of the parking lot remain closed as crews continue to assess the issues affecting those areas.

Township officials say public safety continues to be the top priority as assessments continue, and additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
