A 64-year-old North Dundas man is facing a dozen charges following a Huntsville OPP investigation into a sexual assault involving children.
According to the police, on March 18, Huntsville OPP, in partnership with the Muskoka Crime Unit, initiated an investigation into two sexual assaults that occurred at a local resort.
The OPP said information received indicated the suspect identified himself as a police officer and assaulted two children.
Following further investigation, police determined the offender had travelled to the area from another municipality.
Members of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP Detachment, the OPP criminal behaviour analysis section, the OPP forensic interview team, OPP forensic identification services, and OPP East Region major crime unit supported the investigation, according to police.
As a result, the 64-year-old from North Dundas was arrested on March 28 and charged with:
- Three counts of sexual assault on a person under 16-years-old
- Three counts of sexual interference
- Two counts of invitation to sexual touching under 16-years-old
- Two counts of indecent exposure to a person under 16-years-old
- Personification of a peace officer
- Failing to comply with a prohibition order involving children
The accused is slated to appear in court on April 8.
