Muskoka Lakes Fire to conduct ice water training from March 6 to 8

The Muskoka Lakes Fire Department is going to be conducting ice water rescue training this weekend.

According to local fire officials, training will occur from March 6 to 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the end of West St. in Port Carling.

Officials said during the three days, residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and on-ice training activities as fire apparatus and emergency personnel will be active in and around this area.

Officials said the training will focus on ice and cold-water rescue techniques to ensure the safety of both responders and the community. It will also include participation from Muskoka Lakes Fire Department and district partner fire services.

Residents are advised to stay clear of training areas and follow any posted signage or direction from on-site personnel.
