Huntsville teen charged with uttering threats in school

The Huntsville OPP is conducting an investigation after threats were made at the local high school.

On February 19, Huntsville OPP said officers were notified that a 14-year-old student had made comments to several peers about wanting to cause harm.

Police said they worked in partnership with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board and school officials to conduct a threat assessment, review the student’s comments, and evaluate any potential risk.

As a result of the investigation, the 14-year-old was arrested and charged with uttering threats. The youth is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge at a future date.

Police emphasized that the matter is considered an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing concern for public safety.
