Tampered candy bar reportedly found in Huntsville

The Huntsville OPP is advising residents of a report of a tampered candy bar collected by a child trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Police say on Nov. 1, officers received a report that a child opened a chocolate bar and discovered a small needle or pin inside while breaking it apart.

The child did not sustain any injuries.

Police say no other similar incidents were reported following Halloween, and the matter appears to be an isolated incident.

Police have not released any images of the object involved.

The OPP are encouraging parents and guardians to check the treats children bring home following Halloween activities.

Anyone who discovers a similar issue in the coming days is asked to contact the Huntsville OPP at 705-789-5551 or 1-888-310-1122.
