Bracebridge Fire Department reminding you to stay safe this Halloween

The Bracebridge Fire Department is sharing safety tips as people prepare for Halloween night.

Fire crews are encouraging residents to wear bright-coloured or reflective costumes to improve visibility in the dark and use battery-powered candles in pumpkins instead of open flames.

Officials advise trick-or-treaters to stay on sidewalks, watch for vehicles when crossing streets, plan their routes ahead of time, and only visit homes with their porch lights on.

Officials are also urging drivers to reduce their speed and remain alert for pedestrians.

Town of Bracebridge officials said firefighters will be handing out treats and spreading Halloween spirit while reminding everyone to celebrate safely in the Covered Bridge area from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
