Gravenhurst Fire Department’s new pumper truck to arrive on Oct. 27

The Gravenhurst Fire Department will welcome a new pumper truck into its fleet on Oct. 27.

“This new vehicle will play a valuable role in providing fire protection for our community. The department is grateful for this investment,” Fire Chief Jared Cayley said.

According to officials, the new $762,000 truck is a Rosenbauer Type 3 Pumper, which will serve as a replacement for the 2004 E-One International Pumper that has reached the end of its lifespan.

Mayor Heidi Lorenz said it is important the department has the resources it needs to properly serve the community.

“On a regular basis, we see the meaningful and often dangerous work our firefighters perform. Having reliable equipment ensures firefighters can respond to emergencies when they arise,” said Lorenz.

Officials said a traditional push-in ceremony, which recalls the days when firefighters pushed hand-drawn equipment and later horse-drawn steam engines into their stations, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Town council members will join firefighters for the event, and residents are welcome to attend.
