A 52-year-old man is facing first and second-degree murder charges following a joint investigation by the Barrie Police Services and Huntsville OPP.
Police say the complex investigation involved extensive searches at multiple locations, including a large wooded area in Barrie, a rural property in Huntsville, and a residence in
North Simcoe County.
According to police, the searches led to the discovery of suspected human remains, which have been transported to the Centre for Forensic Sciences in Toronto.
Police say much of the detailed forensic examination of outdoor properties in recent weeks occurred after the primary suspect was identified and arrested in Midland on Aug. 2.
The 52-year-old man remains in custody and is facing 19 charges connected to the deaths and dismemberment of 45-year-old William Robinson and 41-year-old David Cheesequay.
Charges include first and second degree murder, two counts of indignity to a dead body, and various other drug and weapon-related charges.
He is slated to appear in court in Barrie on Aug. 15.
Police say due to the ongoing nature and sensitivity of the investigation, no further information will be provided until Aug. 26.
