A new story titled ‘Lucky the Maple Key’ was unveiled on the Storybook Trail at Woodchester during a ceremony on July 15.
Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney and members of council unveiled the new story as part of the Bracebridge 150 legacy project.
Officials say the new story is a tale about a maple key who shares what it’s like to live and grow in the forest. The story was written by local author Sue Kelly and illustrated by emerging artist Ronnie Szostak.
The interactive outdoor reading experience takes you through the Woodchester grounds which offers families and visitors the opportunity to experience a unique and local story while exploring the beautiful surroundings.
Along with the new story, a new public art piece has been added to the Trail. A wooden bear sculpture was carved and donated by Precision Carvings. According to officials, the sculpture was created live onsite during the Bracebridge 150 Community Celebration and Showcase.
“We are pleased to see local talent and community spirit come together to enhance the Storybook Trail as part of the town’s 150-year anniversary,” said Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney. “This new story and the addition of the bear sculpture offer a lasting, interactive experience that families can enjoy for years to come.”
The Town is calling on the community to help name the bear sculpture. The winner will be awarded a $150.00 prize to spend in the Bracebridge 150 online store.
The contest will run until August 25. To submit a name, visit:Help Name Woodchester’s New Resident | Engage Bracebridge
