Nomination deadline passes for race to be District of Muskoka Chair

The slate of candidates who will be running to be the next District of Muskoka Chair has been finalized.

The last to submit their paperwork was Curry Clifford, a realtor in Muskoka, and Howard Rosenthal, a retired chartered accountant who unsuccessfully ran to be Lake of Bays councillor in Ridout/McLean Wards in the recent municipal election.

They will face off against former three-term Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman, long-time Gravenhurst politician Terry Pilger, current Bracebridge district councillor Don Smith, and former Huntsville district councillor Tim Withey

Next up for the candidates is a debate that’s scheduled for Nov. 28 at 3 PM. It will be moderated by Bracebridge lawyer Jean Polak. Questions can be submitted for the debate ahead of time by district councillors, members of the public, and the media.

A secret ballot vote will be held by district council on Dec. 5 to choose the next chair.
