Majority of Muskoka schools closed as teachers strike

MUSKOKA, ON – With no deal reached between the Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation and the provincial government, there are a lot of students off school today.

In Muskoka, it is pretty much all schools except public elementary classes

Trillium Lakelands District School Board said all if its highschools and adult alternate learning classes will be closed, but elementary schools will remain open.

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic School Board announced that both elementary and high schools will be closed for the day.

Talks between the union representing the teachers and the province continue but clearly weren’t close enough to avoid the strike. It is just a one-day strike and the union said everything will go back to normal Thursday

Teachers are protesting cuts made by the Ford government.
