COTTAGE COUNTRY, ON – With Christmas party season getting into full swing, police are making sure the roads safe over the holidays starting this weekend.
The OPP is launching its Festive RIDE campaign with a focus on impaired drivers.
Police remind the public that officers can demand a breath sample without having reasonable suspicion that the driver has consumed alcohol.
They can also demand a Field Sobriety Test on the spot.

The OPP said some officers have screening equipment that can detect marijuana and cocaine in a driver’s saliva.
Police added there shouldn’t be any problems so long as community members drive safe and sober to ensure everyone has a happy holiday season.
