BRACEBRIDGE, ON – Anyone visiting cemeteries maintained by the Town of Bracebridge is asked to do so at their own risk this winter.
A release from the municipality said it stopped maintaining the 19 sites it manages on November 9th and won’t start again until May 1st. That includes driveway and road plowing, so visitors are asked to use extra caution.
The town added that no interments or monument installations will take place during the closure. The release said wreath or flower arrangements are still permitted but asked they be removed within 30 days.
The Town of Bracebridge is responsible for the management of these 19 cemeteries:
- Annie Williams Memorial, 50 Santa’s Village Road
- Bracebridge Municipal, 19 Lilac Lane
- Bracebridge United, 40 Santa’s Village Road
- Falkenburg Union, 2107 Manitoba Street
- Fraserburg united, 2275 Fraserburg Road
- Free Methodist, 1124 Taylor Road
- Gilbert Lutheran, 1010 Gilbert Lane
- Matthiasville, 1026 Matthiasville Road
- Moore’s Pioneer, 1061 Moore Road
- Muskoka Falls, 3800 Highway 11 North
- Nicholson, 1091 Taylor Road
- Purbrook (Christ Church), 1360 Purbrook Road
- Society of St. John the Evangelist (S.S.J.E.), 9 Sadler Drive
- St. Joseph’s Catholic, 660 Manitoba Street
- St. Paul’s Anglican, 1232 Uffington Road
- St.Paul’s Churchyard, 1605 Peterson Road
- St. Stephen’s Anglican, 1217 Vankoughnet Road
- Stoneleigh Anglican, 1362 Stoneleigh Road
- Uffington United, 1142 Uffington Road
Anyone with questions is asked to contact the municipality’s Corporate Services Department. According to the town, they don’t plow during the winter every year because the roads at most cemeteries are simply too narrow and aren’t feasible to maintain.
