Second candidates debate set for Gravenhurst Opera House on Tuesday

GRAVENHURST, ON – The second candidates debate for Parry Sound-Muskoka will be at the Gravenhurst Opera House on Tuesday night.

Around 150 people attended the first meeting at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville Thursday night, and a good crowd from Bracebridge and Gravenhurst is expected for the Opera House meeting.

“All of the candidates have confirmed their attendance and we’re expecting a large audience to be in attendance,” says Sandy Lockhart, executive director of the Chamber. “Here at the Chamber we feel it’s vital to help residents get a closer look at the local candidates to help them make an informed decision on who they want representing them in Ottawa.”

Candidates attending are Scott Aitchison of the Conservative Party, Trisha Cowie of the Liberal Party, Gord Miller of the Green Party, Michelle Smith of the People’s Party of Canada and Tom Young of the NDP.

The format will offer each candidate the chance for brief opening remarks followed by a question and answer segment. The questions will be asked by a moderator and have been selected by a committee of Chamber and community members from many entries. All candidates will then get three minutes to offer closing remarks.

The Gravenhurst Federal All-Candidates Meeting takes place at the Gravenhurst Opera House on Tuesday,  October 1 between 6 and 8:30 pm. The doors to the Opera House open at 5:30 and the public is invited to stay and chat with candidates until 9 pm.

The event is made possible with the help of sponsors Hunter’s Bay Radio, Country 102, Muskoka 411, The Moose 99.5 FM, Metroland Media, Muskoka Post and Your TV.
