Immunization records need to be updated says health unit

ORILLIA, ON – The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reminding parents they need to update their child’s immunization records.

Failure to register a child’s health record with the health unit could lead to a suspension. And as is witnessed by cases of measles becoming apparent across the world, adherence to these rules is vital to maintain the herd immunity.

The herd immunity is when a high enough percentage of a population is vaccinated against a disease that it no longer can gain a foothold within the population.

Some religious groups in New York City opposed to vaccination have seen high instances of measles outbreaks due to non-vaccination trends.

If you are unsure where you are in your child’s immunization schedule you can call the Health Connection at 1-877-721-7520 between 8:30am and 4:30pm. You can update your immunization records online by clicking here
