Slow down through construction zones or get fined: O.P.P.

KILLALOE, ON – The O.P.P. is extending a reminder to drivers that you need to slow down.

With a little while left of construction season across cottage country, the O.P.P. are saying that drivers are going to get fined if they don’t slow down when going through a construction zone.

Killaloe OPP’s Catherine Yarmel says if you break the speed limit in a construction zone, speeding fines are doubled. She says you need to obey all signage and proceed with caution. That also includes any people or devices that are directing traffic.

Yarmel says that other motorists and construction workers will call in speeders and the O.P.P. investigates each of those calls.

From a safety point of view, slower speeds mean drivers better navigate uneven roads, gravel, or narrow lanes. She says it also helps protect workers.
