Pilot and passenger physically unscathed after plane crash

LAKE ROSSEAU, ON – A man and woman were able to walk away from a plane crash on Lake Rosseau over the weekend.

Phil Harding, mayor of the Township of Muskoka Lakes, confirmed it was a male pilot and a female passenger. He added neither required any medical attention beyond being checked out at the Windermere Wharf.

The pilots 33 years of flying experience and incredible skill proved successful when engine failure forced an emergency landing,” Harding said. “The pilot quickly scanned for the best area to put the plane down in the trees, flying into a headwind at as slow a speed as possible. Congratulations to the pilot for his skill and expertise which ended up saving lives.”

According to the mayor, Transport Canada finished its investigation and determined there were no issues on their end. He also confirmed there were no charges laid by OPP.

The Township of Muskoka Lakes Fire Department was called about the crash at 3:24 p.m. Sunday.
