Emergency state lifted in Muskoka Lakes

The Township of Muskoka Lakes has lifted its declaration of emergency.

That means all the emergency states that had been put in place in response to the recent flooding have all now been called off. The township says the water levels are continuing to recede throughout Muskoka Lakes as recovery efforts continue. Muskoka Lakes Mayor Phil Harding first declared the emergency state back on April 28th.

To assist Muskoka Lakes property owners with clean-up resulting from the 2019 flood emergency, the Township will be issuing one (1) Waste Disposal Voucher per property to provide no-charge disposal of flood-damaged waste at the Eveleigh Road Transfer Station and Rosewarne Transfer Station during operating hours.

The voucher is valid to dispose of up to one half-ton and single-axle trailer load (or equivalent) of flood-related debris. Please contact the Township Office at 705-765-3156 for full program details.

The Ontario Government has expanded the activation area for the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program in the District of Muskoka to provide financial assistance to eligible applicants affected by flooding in the Township of Muskoka Lakes.

Residents are advised that properties in flooded areas using well or lake/river water should assume the water is not potable. Municipal water sources are not affected. You can find more information about the current flooding situation at the township’s website.
