Business appears to be booming in Gravenhurst

The economy in Gravenhurst has a positive future.

The Town released its Annual Business Survey Report and said it looked very positive. According to the report, 23 new businesses opened in 2018 and the current ones increased Business Satisfaction to 92 percent.

The town’s Manager of Economic Development, Jeff Loney, said Gravenhurst continues to see more business investment and growth each year

“In 2018 we saw a significant increase in new businesses opening, in addition to the expansion of many established businesses,” Loney said. “Five years ago we were facing an increasing number of commercial vacancies but today our challenge has been the opposite, having more than 200 inquires we are running out of available space.”

The Economic Development Team talked to 236 businesses to create the report. The survey helps attract new businesses to the community and gathers statistics on things like employment. A total of 64 organizations were looking to fill 137 positions at the start of 2019.
