Between 20 to 40 mm of rain expected for parts of Muskoka

Communities around Muskoka can expect significant rainfall over the next 24 hours.

Environment Canada said Huntsville might not get as much rain but Bracebridge and Port Carling are still expected to get hit pretty hard. Showers are expected to start Thursday around noon with 20 to 40 mm falling by midday Friday.

The heaviest rain will be between the afternoon and night on Thursday. Environment Canada added the ground is already near saturation which makes it less able to absorb more rainfall and localized flooding is possible.

The Muskoka Watershed remains under a flood warning.
