YMCA doubles its Move to Give fundraising goal

It was a great year for the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka’s “Move to Give”.

The organization doubled its fundraising goal, bringing in $200,000 on a target of $100,000. The YMCA says more than 1,770 people across Simcoe/Muskoka and Parry Sound took part in the fifth annual Move to Give.

Each year Move to Give sets out to raise the necessary funds to support the growing needs of the communities served across Simcoe/Muskoka and Parry Sound. It took place at eight YMCAs in the area, including Parry Sound and Gravenhurst, on April 6th and at 76 YMCA child care centres and school-age programs on March 6th. Move to Give participants raise money by taking part in some kind of physical activity.

“On behalf of everyone who benefits from a strong and vibrant YMCA, we would like to thank our community, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and staff for making this year’s Move to Give a huge success,” said Brian Shelley, Vice President, Philanthropy, Brand and Community Development, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. “Witnessing how our community came together to support us on April 6th was truly inspiring, and we are humbled by the generosity and support we received.”

Over the past five years Move to Give has raised over $500,000 across Simcoe/Muskoka.
