Holocaust survivor to receive award at YWCA AGM

A Holocaust survivor will be receiving an award from the YWCA Muskoka.

Dr. Eva Olsson, who is making a presentation at the organization’s 22nd Annual General Meeting, survived, along with her sister, the notorious Auschwitz concentration camp during the Second World War. She will be receiving the 2019 Maggie Ringling Award Thursday night.

“We are inspired by Dr. Olsson’s story and her life-long dedication to sharing a message of anti-racism to so many people,” says Hannah Lin, Executive Director of YWCA Muskoka.  “Now more than ever we need to value her action of love for a better world.”

Olsson has told her story more than 3800 times to schools, universities, and colleges around the world. At age 94 it is a story of perseverance and survival.

She has published a book about her experiences called Unlocking Doors, and a CD entitled Stronger than Fire.

Dr. Olsson continues to share her story across North America, reminding future generations about themes of racism and prejudice and the damage they can produce.

Maggie Ringling was was renowned for her passion and commitment to the development of support services for women and children.

Those who would like to attend are welcome starting at 6:30pm at the YWCA in Bracebridge, 440 Ecclestone Drive.
