Officials say they’re working with the people who are without a home after an apartment building in Bracebridge was deemed unsafe.
The town’s chief building official shut down the 19 Monck Road property yesterday for Ontario Building Code violations. The unsafe order affects 19 of the 25 rental units in the building. Tenant complaints prompted the investigation.
The District of Muskoka, the Town of Bracebridge and Muskoka Victim Services along with emergency services are supporting or offering everyone immediate shelter. Meetings are happening today to figure out what the short term and long term plans to support the people displaced will look like.
The district says additional information on how the community can support this emergency situation through donations or short-term shelter will also be provided shortly.
