Huntsville mayor will run in federal election if Clement doesn’t

Huntsville’s mayor intends to run in the upcoming federal election, under one condition.

That being if current Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement doesn’t. Robocalls going around are asking riding residents if they’d consider voting for Scott Aitchison in October. Aitchison won his second term in the big chair in last year’s municipal election.

It’s not clear yet whether Clement, who now sits as an independent in the House of Commons, intends to run again.

He’s represented Parry Sound-Muskoka since 2006, having been a Conservative until he was asked to resign from the caucus by party leader Andrew Scheer in November over a sexting and extortion scandal.
