Keep safe on the trails because the OPP is watching.
In an effort to keep trail-related fatalities down compared to last year, the Southern Georgian Bay OPP is keeping an eye in the sky on its snowmobile trail network. The enforcement campaign ran on Sunday, involving drones and OPP aircraft to watch for risky and dangerous driving practices.
Officers laid 31 charges during the campaign.
According to the OPP there have been six snowmobile-related deaths in OPP patrolled areas so far this season. During the 2017/18 season there were 14.
