Tony Clement returns to Parliament and social media

After being ousted from the Conservative Party, Tony Clement is returning to politics with a new lease on MP life.

The Independent Member took to Instagram yesterday to announce his return to Parliament and to apologize for his actions once again. Clement says he had a lot of support to help him get through “the dark valley” he was in.

Clement was overwhelmed by scandal late last year, after he admitted to having sent sexually explicit photos to what he thought was a consenting woman online. Instead it turned out to be two men based on the Ivory Coast in West Africa, who then attempted to blackmail him into paying €50,000 to keep the photos from being released online. The men were arrested and charged with extortion.

However, the damage was still done after Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer asked Clement to leave the caucus.

In his recent Instagram post, Clement thanks his constituents for allowing him some time away to reassess his life. He says he’s getting the counselling he needs and is now ready to fully serve and represent the Parry Sound-Muskoka area in Ottawa once again.
