Keep snow on your own property warns OPP

As you’re fighting an uphill battle with the excess snowfall don’t take the easy way out to get rid of it.

O-P-P Constable Philippe Regamey says shovelling snow onto a roadway comes with a $110 fine.

He says the fine reflects how dangerous this practice is.

“The problem with depositing snow on a highway is it can cause banks,” says Regamey. “If the snow does melt because of the salt that’s put on the highways, it can start causing ice issues, and then there’s black ice on the highways which can cause accidents.”

Regamey says depositing snow onto your own property is a simple courtesy to others.
