The Town of Gravenhurst is advising residents of stepped up de-icing efforts.
In a statement, it revealed that recent rutting and ice build-up has led to the town taking on extensive ice-blading operations. This grades the road to a smoother profile with plow blades applying pressure to the affected crests.
The public works department says while it has been conducting these types of operations all winter, the next 24 hours will see a heightened attention to getting roads back into smoother condition.
Caution should be used when passing equipment in town.
Sidewalk machines have been continually sanding town and rural routes since 5:00am this morning.
Blocked culverts are being cleared with steam jennies, that use heat and pressure to clear the problem areas.
The town also asks its residents to be mindful of the winter parking bylaw and ensure your vehicle is not parked on any restricted roadways.
