District approves water treatment plant upgrade

The District of Muskoka is making upgrades to its water system.

At the last council meeting, a contract worth $4.5 million was approved for the work being done to the Muskoka Beach Road Water Treatment Plant by W.S. Morgan.

The facility is on Muskoka Beach Road in Gravenhurst and was built in 1983. It’s last upgrade was 14 years ago in 2005.

With current provincial standards, the plant is only at 40 per cent of its planned capacity.

The total price tag of the project  is $6.7 million.
