Warming centres available in Huntsville

With Muskoka still in the icy grip of an extreme cold warning, The Town of Huntsville is reminding people that warming centres are still open.

Those places are the Huntsville Civic Centre at 37 Main Street East, the Canada Summit Centre at 20 Park Drive, and the library at 7 Minerva Street East

The Civic Centre is open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, the Summit Centre is open Monday to Friday 6:00am to midnight, and the library is open Monday to Thursday from 10:00am to 7:30pm and Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm.

People who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness are encouraged to contact the District of Muskoka at 705-645-2412 for resources available during extreme cold weather events.

Environment Canada says this arctic air, with wind chills in the low minus 30s, is going to stick around until tomorrow.  Things are supposed to warm up on Wednesday when we’re expecting a high around zero degrees.
