A planned skijoring event at Arrowhead Park has been cancelled due to cold temperatures.
It is the first time in the ten years of offering these exhibitions that a cancellation was needed due to weather conditions.
Organizer Dr. Lowell Greib said in an email. “It is of utmost importance to The SportLab to offer a safe and enjoyable experience and with wind chills expected to dip into the mid -30’s there are obvious risks to both human and canine.”
Skijoring is a sport that involves a dog being harnessed to a person who is riding on cross-country skis, providing extra pace along snow covered trails.
There are still two more exhibitions organized:
- Sunday, February 3rd
- Sunday, March 3rd
