Extreme cold warning continues

An extreme cold warning remains in effect for Muskoka, Parry Sound and surrounding areas.

Environment Canada says a wind chill near minus 35 is expected to stretch into Tuesday morning. Tonight even colder wind chill values near minus 40 to minus 45 are expected.

Today’s daytime high is minus 23 with a low of minus 31 this evening.

The cold air brings a significant risk of frostbite, which is greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Also please note that all winter electives are cancelled for tomorrow (Monday) at Monck Public School.

Environment Canada says if you have to brave the cold, make sure as much exposed skin is covered as possible.
