Bracebridge Levee well attended tradition

Dozens of people turned out for the Bracebridge Mayor’s Levee.

It took place at the Sportsplex on Saturday afternoon and continues a long-standing tradition for Mayor Graydon Smith, who has begun his third term.

He says he likes holding the informal gathering where residents can chat over a cup of coffee, and he can meet people he might not otherwise see.

“I think it’s generally kind of a fun day where we see members of the community come in, talk with myself and other members of council, exchange a few Christmas stories . . . and a little bit of business gets done but not too, too much,” says Smith.

He says when he first became Mayor he felt it was something that should be carried on.

“The first year I became mayor I felt it was important to continue with that tradition of elected officials to meet with the public on or about the New Year and it’s been a fun tradition,” he says.
