Bracebridge Library is looking for new board members for the new year

If you’d like to get involved in the Bracebridge Community, the local library wants to meet you.

Bracebridge Public Library is looking for some community-minded, engaged locals to join its board. Chief Librarian Cathryn Rodney explains more about what it takes to be a great board member.

“People who are used to being in discussions, bringing their ideas to the table, being open-minded,” says Rodney. “Preferably somebody who’s been interested in the library and can be supportive.”

Board members will at least be expected to meet once a month.

“We have meetings on the second Tuesday of the month, we generally take July and August off,” says Rodney. “Sometimes there are special meetings throughout the year to deal with specific issues that arise, we have a policy committee that takes a look at individual policy that we have.”

Rodney says if you have questions about the position and expectations you can always stop by the library to speak with her directly.

The application process is open until next Thursday afternoon. You can either pick up an application form at the library or go online to the Town of Bracebridge website.
