Georgian Bay council to feature new face in Mayor’s seat

Georgian Bay Township will have a mix of new and old when the next council term starts.

The biggest change at the table is at the mayor’s seat, which will be taken by newcomer Peter Koetsier, who unseated incumbent Larry Braid, 2,268 votes to 1,308.

The township’s two district councillors Paul Wiancko and Peter Cooper both kept their seats for the next term. Cynthia Douglas and Brian Bochek are the only remaining members of the original township ward councillors as Stephen Jarvis and Allan Hazelton were elected as fresh faces for the next term.

The new council is expected to be inducted by the end of the year.
