Being a victim of child sexual abuse can cause emotional pain that last for years if you don’t speak out. That’s according 11-year-old Kealin, who says she didn’t know what to do when the abuse was happening to her.
It took her a long time to go through the healing process. However, she says certain people inspired and encouraged her to share her story.
Former NHL star Theo Fleury is also a victor and says victims like Kealin find their voice when they finally get fed up with that pain.
Evening with Theo Fleury is happening at the Algonquin Theatre at 7pm on Thursday. Kealin says she hopes other kids will realize that they are not alone and they need to tell someone they trust.
Tickets are still available if you want to help raise money and support Muskoka kids moving from victims to victor. A full interview with Kealin is happening today just after the 8am newscast, while the full interview with Theo Fleury will air a little after 9am.
