Film Shoot, Culture Days Bringing Road Closures to Downtown Huntsville

Getting around downtown Huntsville is going to be a little difficult next week.

That’s because of road and parking lots closures related to two events. Crews will be shooting a Hallmark Christmas Film from Tuesday the 25th to Saturday the 29th with Culture Days happening on Saturday as well.

During that time the town says there will be both major and intermittent closures. On top of that downtown will be decorated with snow and Christmas scenery from Kent Park to West Street starting early in the week.

From 7:00am on Wednesday to 7:00am on Saturday the eastbound lane of Main Street East from Centre to John will be shut down, and Brunel Road will be closed between Main and High Streets. The westbound lane of Main Street East will see temporary closures from Centre Street to John Street for five-minute filming intervals.  Traffic will be directed by the O.P.P. during these times.

As for parking, the High Street lot beside the Bell Building will be closed from 11:00pm Tuesday until noon on Saturday, as will the spaces on Brunel and High Street. To accommodate Culture Days Main Street will be closed completely from Brunel Road to Centre Street from 7:00am to 6:00pm.

The Town of Huntsville says both it and the District of Muskoka understand how important these roads are and have taken steps to make sure detour signage is in place well in advance. If you have any questions you can call customer service at Town Hall at 705-789-1751.
