The Huntsville Legion raising money for a new veterans social group

It’s a fundraiser to help launch a new social group. Marching for Veterans is happening in Saturday at ConroyPark in Huntsville. NATO Veteran and Legion member Rick Thomas says he will be marching 50 kilometres along the track while wearing a 30 pound rucksack. He says all the funds raised are going to the new Veterans Social Group, which starts next month.

The fundraiser will run from 7am until 4pm with live entertainment, a barbecue and guest speakers throughout the day. The goal for the Veterans Social is to make it free for these Muskoka veterans to attend. Thomas says it should be a safe haven for veterans of all ages to share their stories.

This social will launch on November 2nd and be held on the first Sunday of each month at the Royal Canadian Legion in Huntsville. If you can’t come to the event, but still want to donate to the social group, you can drop off your donation at the Legion in person.
