OPP give tips to local hunters

The Fall hunting season is underway and local police want hunters follow the rules. If you’re out hunting, you should make sure you have your hunting and firearms licences with you. Huntsville OPP Constable Lynda Cranney says there are other things you need to know when hunting on someone’s property.

Cranney says you need to get permission for the landowner first. She also says it’s illegal to shoot in a residential area. If you’re out taking advantage of the Fall hunting season, you might want to keep an extra eye out for hikers. Cranney says it’s in your best interest to dress appropriately if you plan in hiking in any hunting zones.

Cranney also says if you’re out hunting, you should be wearing hunter orange clothing. She also says hunters should be absolutely sure of your target before shooting. Cranney also says it’s a good idea to have things like a cell phone with you.
