Fishermen need to adjust to warming water temperatures

As the once frigid waters of the Muskoka Lakes region slowly warm up a transformation takes place with the local fish population. This requires anglers to adjust where they go to catch their favourite quarry and when to do it.

Garrett Green is a local fishing guide and owner of Muskoka Guided Fishing and he says there are some trophy catches available on their adventures that take place out of Bracebridge and Huntsville and people are not over-fishing the area.

He says there is a big change taking place as the water warms up. Pike will soon look for deeper and cooler water as the summer heat takes its toll. The bass move into the shallows, making for good fishing. But they do not come into season for another month and Green says it is critical if you catch a bass to get it back into the water right away.

The Muskoka lakes district are considered among the top fisheries in the province and the bass fishing is top notch for the fight they put up.
